- The Intercultural English Conversation Partners Program will send you the contact information for your partner by e-mail. It is your responsibility to make contact with your partner and arrange your first meeting.
- You and your partner can work out a time and place to meet every week. We recommend that you meet at the same time every week because it’s easier to remember as a regular part of your weekly schedule. If your schedules don’t permit this, you can arrange a different time every week.
- IMPORTANT: The first time you meet your partner, you should meet in a place that you are familiar with, for example, the Ohio Union or Thompson Library. Be sure to agree to wait for each other. Sometimes, the first time people meet, they may have a little trouble finding each other, so it’s important to be patient.
- You and your partner can do any kind of activity together that the two of you agree on (going to parks, museums, restaurants, coffee shops; going shopping; going to movies or concerts, etc.), but the key is to be conversing in English. During a movie or concert, you can’t talk much, so if you and your partner do that kind of activity together, you need to have separate time (perhaps before or after the activity) to have a conversation.
- Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Also, if you find that, for any reason, you cannot meet your commitment as a conversation partner and are unable to continue, please inform us as soon as possible. Someone else may be waiting to be matched with a partner.
