On-Campus Housing

Living on campus offers many advantages and has proven to enhance students’ success at Ohio State. All university residence halls (dormitories) are conveniently located on campus and offer a number of living options, ranging from single rooms to suites of rooms with up to eight students. All university residence hall rooms have internet connections, cable television, telephones, refrigerators, and microwave ovens. A variety of meal service plans is available to those who live on campus. Residence halls are popular and fill up quickly.  For more information, please visit the University Housing website. Off-Campus Housing

Ohio State’s Office of Off Campus Student Services can help you find off-campus housing when you arrive in Columbus. For information, please visit the Office of Off-Campus Student Services website.

If you choose to live in off-campus housing, please read and understand the following information before signing any agreement:

The minimum information you should have on a lease should include: (1) monthly rate (“the rent”); (2) required deposit; (3) length of occupancy; (4) apartment rules; (5) which utilities you will pay/which the landlord pays; and (6) lease termination requirements.

A lease is a legally binding agreement between you and your landlord for a specific period of time. You are responsible to pay the rent (monthly fee) of the apartment the entire length of the lease, usually six months to a year. The rent will remain the same for the leasing period. If you wish to leave the apartment before the end of the lease, you will have to find another person to sublease your apartment or pay the rest of the rent until the end of the lease. Therefore, it is very important that you read the lease carefully before you make your decision.

Please note that the American Language Program does not arrange or endorse any private housing accommodations.
