Biography
Although Melinda Sims was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, more than half of her life has been spent outside of the Badger State. Back in 1998, Melinda and her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. A few years later, she returned to school and earned her MA in TESOL from Arizona State University. Upon graduation, she taught developmental students, domestic composition students, and ESL students at Mesa Community College. Five years later, she became a lecturer at Arizona State University. In 2009, the Sims family moved to Columbus, Ohio and Melinda transitioned to becoming an OSU Buckeye. While on campus, she has participated in the OSU STEP program, the Digital Flagship Program, and Kiviak training for online courses. In recent years, Melinda has been involved with oral and written assessments for incoming international students. She continues to work as a lecturer within IELP’s Academic English Writing Program and the Spoken English Program.
