Biography
Risa Pelot is the program assistant for TraVerse English Language Training, one of the International Special Programs at IELP. Prior to joining the program, she worked as a recruiter in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry in Tokyo, Japan and in administration in higher education in Pennsylvania. In pursuit of her interest in helping internationals with their cultural adjustments while abroad, she has taught Japanese and other subjects to immigrant children at nonprofits in Japan, helping them to prepare for high school entrance exams and providing educational information to their parents. She has also worked with nonprofits in the Pittsburgh area, helping Japanese nationals network and as an ESL teaching assistant. Her hobbies include art, traveling, exploring new cafes, and cooking.
